(One fold rejoined with loss of about 10mm, lower margin cropped and frayed; backed; some staining.) This view has the well-known foreshortened figure of a galley at full sail, and shows the town of Modon with its impressive quay. BREYDENBACH, Bernhard von. [Woodcut The view of Rhodes from the third Latin edition of Peregrinationes in Terram Sanctam, 1402]. Bifolium (247 x 781mm). (Tears along two folds, with several marginal tears repaired; a narrow 75mm chip skillfully restored; two sides slightly chipped and frayed, last section detached.) This view shows the pilgrims galley, under oar, entering Rhodes; a banner in the bow bears the Jerusalem cross, while one displaying the Lion of Saint Mark is on the awning in the stern.
