RARE FIRST EDITION of the first dictionary for the Targum, with a Latin introduction by Fagius. Levita, responsible for the first two Hebrew books printed at Rome, was instrumental in furthering the study of Hebrew in Christan circles. In publishing this and other Hebrew works with Levita's assistance, Fagius's reputation grew sufficiently to secure him the chair of Hebrew at Strassburg University in 1544. RLG lists copies only at the Bavarian State Library. Cf. Adams L-121 (the second edition, with an additional final gathering A6).
