With slender tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section, the forte and the ricasso inlaid with a series of six large copper characters punctuated by brass pellets and differing over the respective sides, iron hilt of rectangular bars, the quillons vertically recurved towards the tips, the latter canted in opposing directions and with swelling pyramidal points, the knuckle-guard and the outer ring-guards each with a simple central moulding, domed hexagonal pommel, and original wire-bound moulded 'herring-bone' grip
