With cowhorn body, the greater part carved in low relief with a characteristic series of titled panels filled with figures both from Norse sagas and from The Old Testament, including Rolland, Olaf, Habar, Burmani, Ferakun(de), Adam and Eve, Daniel and King David, all on a contrasting blackened ground, and the neck and pine base each with owner's inscription
