With swamped octagonal sighted barrel signed in gold, the breech decorated with gold scrollwork, gilt-bronze folding back-sight, the lock engraved with rococo scrollwork and involving a sportsman shooting a boar (replaced, perhaps within the working life of the rifle) ebonised wooden full stock carved with scrollwork in low relief, the fore-end with thumbpiece safety-catch operating on an internal long cam, the butt with sliding patch-box cover mounted en suite with the stock, full gilt-bronze mounts finely cast in low relief, decorated en rocailles and involving figures from Roman mythology, sportsmen and other hunting subjects, set trigger, and original ramrod
