Lot Essay

The Worshipful Company of Butchers is one of the oldest Livery Companies of the City of London. The Arms of The Company were granted in 1540, the motto being - 'Omnia Subjecisti Sub Pedibus, Oves et Boves' - Thou hast put all things under his feet, all Sheep and Oxen. The Charter of Incorporation was granted by James I in 1605.
