The cover formed as a nesting quail with a chick perched on her back and another under her wing, five further chicks nearby, resting on a field of grasses and ferns, the sides of the tureen moulded with a frieze of rabbits seated among grasses and ferns, the handles modelled as double branches of oak entwined with ivy and terminating in acorns
