A CARVED TIXI CINNABAR LACQUER DISH
MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY

With shallow rounded sides, well carved in deep relief through layers of red and black lacquer with bands of ruyi scrolls centering on a stylised flower-head, the reverse with a further band of ruyi heads above a short foot ring, the base lacquered brownish-black bearing an indecipherable red lacquer sealmark
