A FINELY CARVED WHITE JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

Of flattened ovoid form, carved in medium relief with pairs of writhing chilong clambering up the sides above the main body carved in low relief with bands of archaistic taotie masks and scrolls below a lappet band surrounding the shoulder flanked by two lion-mask handles, the stone of an attractive even white tone with very minor light russet inclusions to one side, stopper
