Further details
The subject of the Capitoline Doves or Doves of Pliny was originally copied from an ancient floor mosaic found in 1737 at Hadrian's Villa, now in the Musei Capitolini in Rome. The mosaic was associated with the description of the Elder Pliny of a Greek second century BC mosaic at Pergamon.
