This lot is offered without reserve. Although it was Elvis Presley who introduced Buddy Holly to Rock and Roll it was Hank Williams's quintessential country sound that was Holly's primary influence. In 1953 at the age of 16 Buddy Holly wrote an illuminating school essay entitled 'My Autobiography' which not only gives an insight into his personality but also reveals his musical ambitions: I have many hobbies some of these are hunting, fishing, leatherwork, reading, painting and playing western music. I have thought about making a career out of western music if I am good enough, but I will just have to wait to see how that turns out...
