Depicted in a gold thread red frock coat, dated '17..' and signed with initial 'P' to side edge, later mounted in an associated ebony frame with paper label to reverse inscribed 'THOMAS JOHN WEIR LIEUT. ROYAL SCOTS GUARD 1ST FOOT GUARDS BORN 1st. JAN 1782 MARRIED CATHERINE KYNASTON DIED 13th DEC. 1849'
