FIRST EDITION of Porter's only novel about a ship of passengers traveling from Mexico to Europe. A satire tracing the rise of Nazism, it looks metaphorically at the progress of the world. PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by Porter on the half-title: "For Samuel S. Goldberg. Katherine Anne Porter."
