12 x 8 inches. 68 leaves including one of vellum and three blanks, 14 interleaves of silk; written in a cursive hand with more than thirty colored pen and ink drawings or headpieces, some with gold, by Alonzo de la Torre 'escrivano del Rei ... y su Notario Publico de las Yndias, most featuring animals and birds including an armadillo and a turkey cock, but also the Virgin and Child, a Franciscan friar (?a self-portrait of de la Torre) and a mounted standard bearer, the vellum leaf with the fully painted arms of the de Thena, signed and with stamped seals (leaves at front detached, tears, spotting, some ink erosion and worming). Contemporary paneled citron morocco elaborately stamped in gilt (defective and lacking with upper cover detached and text block split).
