Engraved map (350 x 440mm.) approximately. Handcolored in red and blue to show key roads, and troop positions of the Continental and British armies. Matted and framed.

WASHINGTON'S VICTORIES AT TRENTON AND PRINCETON. A superbly detailed cartographic depiction of Washington's crossing of the Delaware on the night of December 25 and his surprise attacks on the British/Hessian garrisons at Trenton (on the morning of December 26) and Princeton (on the morning of January 3). The roads and the positions of both armies are delicately hand-colored; in the lower corners are detailed lists of the casualties suffered by the British and Hessian regiments during these historic engagements, battles which did much to rebuild public confidence in Washington as Commander-in-Chief. Nebenzahl 119; Schwartz & Ehrenberg pp. 189-190
