Grant visited Brady's studios during his March 1864 visit to Washington during which Lincoln gave him his promotion to Lt. General with the instructions to break Lee's army and end the rebellion once and for all. A SUPERB PAIRING OF THESE TWO GREAT CIVIL WAR ADVERSARIES AS THEY FACED EACH OTHER IN THE CLIMACTIC YEAR OF THE CONFLICT.
