A ROMAN BRONZE MILITARY FIGURE
CIRCA 3RD CENTURY A.D.
Wearing a belted tunic, the belt with two long tassels falling along his right thigh, his mantle draped over his left shoulder and pinned at his right shoulder with a circular fibula, his parazonium (dagger) sheathed and hanging from his baldric, draped diagonally over his right shoulder, a long staff in his extended right hand, a scroll in his left, his oval face with a pointed chin, the small fleshy lips slightly downturned, the convex eyes with thick lids, the pupils and irises articulated, his hair a mass of tousled locks, the hairs individually incised, traces of gilding preserved
