The Coalbrookdale Gate, marking the boundary between Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens adjacent to the Albert Memorial, was made by the Coalbrookdale Company, Shropshire, in time for the Great Exhibition of 1851. Sir Robert Ponsonby Staples was a Kensington resident: by 1886 he was living in Warwick Gardens, and by 1896 he had moved closer to the parks at Hornton Street.
