Lot Essay

Parkinson has constructed this group portrait (including himself) with a charming, respectful wink to Irving Penn who initiated the genre with such elaborate groupings as his Twelve Most Photographed Models, 'New Yorker' Cartoonists, and Ballet Theatre, all made in New York in 1947.
