LOUIS SENÉ, signed, circa 1785

The Marquise de Beauffort née Comtesse de Mérode-Westerloo, holding an open book inscribed L'AMOUR Filial, wearing a yellow straw-hat adorned with a sky-blue knotted ribbon, white ostrich feathers and a long gauze veil with embroidered border, her grey-powdered high-piled hair falling in curls onto her neck, her aubergine-coloured dress and open broad gauze collar bordered with frill -- 69 mm diam., plain gold mount.

Lot Essay

Honorine-Léopoldine-Ghislaine Comtesse de Mérode-Westerloo was born in the Castle of Everberg (Belgium) on 18 July 1761. She was married in Brussels on 7 February 1781 to Charles-Louis-Joseph-Marie Marquis de Beauffort and died on 25 November 1829.
