Early issue without the chart of the Strait of Magellan and the directions to the binder; -- [Second Voyage]. COOK, James. A Voyage towards the South Pole, and Round the World. Performed in His Majesty's Ships the Resolution and Adventure. London: for W. Strahan and T. Cadell 1777. 2 vols., 4° (275x215mm), and 2° (485x320mm). He was the first really scientific navigator, and his voyages made great contributions to many fields of knowledge' (Hill).
