Each piece with bright-cut engraved borders, engraved with a coat-of-arms on one side and a crest on the other, comprising:
A teapot and stand
A coffee-jug
A tea-caddy
A sugar-bowl
A cream-jug, by William Frisbee and Paul Storr, 1792
The tray oval with two reeded handles by John Crouch and Thomas Hannam, 1791
each piece marked underneath, the teapot and tea-caddy each further marked inside cover, the sugar bowl further marked on handle
the tray 22½ in (57.3 cm.) wide
gross weight 158 oz. (4,897 gr.)
The arms and crest are those of Barneby quartering Lutley with Bulkeley in pretence, for John Barneby (1757-1817) of Brockhampton, co. Herefordshire and his wife Elizabeth (d.1833), daughter and sole heir of Robert Bulkeley of Bulkeley, Cheshire. The service was almost certainly a gift in honour of their marriage held at St. George's, Hanover Square on the 17th of July, 1792. John Barneby was High Sheriff for the County of Herefordshire in 1797. (7)
