FIRST EDITION, first printed serially in Pearson's Weekly in June and July 1897. The story, as given in this London edition, ends with the death of Griffin in Chapter XXVIII, but the first American edition included a short epilogue in which Thomas Marvell, who has kept the papers of the dead Griffin, is pictured as the proprietor of an inn called "The Invisible Man." This epilogue was also printed in the cheap edition of 1900. Currey 520; Wells 11.
