FIRST ALDINE EDITION, following the two Zappino editions (1528 and 1534) using the same woodblocks. Bordone's Isolario is a fine example of this atlas describing the islands of the world, following the tradition of the Mediterranean island book, but expanded to include the World. The "Terra de Lavoratore," is an early printed map of the North American continent, other woodcut relating to the New World include: Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil, the City of Mexico before its destruction by Cortez, and several of the West Indies. The double-page woodcut maps and plans are of: the world (a very early example of a world map on an oval projection, based on Francesco Rosselli), Venice, Sicily, Crete, Cyprus, Europe, the Aegean, and Greece. The "Copia delle Lettere de Perfetto della India la Nova Spagna detta alla Cesarea Maesta," not included in Zappino's 1528 edition (but in the 1534 edition), is the earliest printed account of Pizzarro's entry into Peru.
