FIRST EDITION of this exhaustive description of the United States and Canada, translated into English and published in Philadelphia in the same year. The work contains a large map of the United States and Canada, maps of New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Ohio, Plymouth, a plan of Boston, Quebec, the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and views of the Erie-Channel, Philadelphia and the Capitol in Washington. The list of subscribers' include Alexander von Humboldt, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The list of plates, and several other copies examinted do not call for a portrait frontispiece.
