Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 2004 and its subsequent sale on November 16, 2004.

To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.

The Ellipse, created in 1968, was inspired by the Golden Section, also known as "divine proportion", the mathematical ratio of homogenous size symbolizing the perfect equilibrium of shapes. The Ellipse is recognized as a true classic of modern Patek Philippe production.

The present example manufactured in 2004 gives collectors the opportunity to aquire a modern classic at a fraction of current retail value.
