FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY, THE TWO SEVRES EXAMPLES 1790/91
The centres painted with a garland of flowers, gilt and blue central medallion and a broad blue band, the blue borders of the saucer-dishes reserved with alternate facing flower-sprays on a gilt-edged scalloped band, gilt line rims, the rim and footrim of the flared baskets with a gilt band tied with a blue ribbon
The baskets 11 7/8 in. (30 cm.) wide, the saucer-dishes 10¼ in. (26 cm.) diam. (5)

This service was purchased on 1st December 1791 by M. Verdier (probably a banquier), although it is not clear whether or to whom he sold it on. Surviving 1791 items include two saucières by Nicquet in the V & A and a compotier rond and an assiette at Boughton House. See David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century (Hertfordshire, 2005), Vol. IV, pp. 939-940
