Lot Essay

The name 'Adelina' on the handle of this lot refers to Adelina Patti (1843-1919), one of the most regarded and highest paid opera singers of the 19th century. This page turner is a gift from Marie Effie Wilton, Lady Bancroft and her husband Squire Bancroft to Adelina who together made important contributions to Victorian theatre productions.
