Reposant sur un petit pied, de forme légèrement tulipée, chacune ornée de deux dragons à cinq griffes, aux corps noueux couverts d'écailles, pourchassant la perle sacrée, au-dessus de flots émaillés blancs en très léger relief, la bordure agrémentée d'un filet doré, marque à six caractères en cachet de l'Empereur Xianfeng en rouge de fer à la base

A pair of similar Xianfeng cups of this pattern is illustrated in Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing from the Kwan Collection, 1983, pl.87 and subsequently sold in our Singapore Rooms, 30th March 1997, lot 369 ; see also the iron-red 'dragon' wine cup with underglaze-blue Xianfeng mark and from the period, sold in our London Rooms, 17 June 2003, lot 39.
