(Title browned at inner margin, some light browning and occasional spotting, without half-title.) Contemporary green half morocco gilt, smooth spine, marbled edges (one corner scuffed). Provenance: Joseph Cook (bookplate, with view of Newton Hall, by Bewick). FIRST EDITION, FIRST IMPRESSION. Todd & Bowden 47Aa.
With a later edition of Scott's Lay of the Last Minstrel (Edinburgh: 1810) and a first edition, first impression of his Lord of the Isles (Edinburgh: 1815), both uniformly bound with the first work and with Cook bookplate; also Thomas Allom's Westmorland, Cumberland, Durham and Northumberland Illustrated (London: [1833 or slightly later]), in red morocco gilt, with gift inscriptions to Sarah Widdrington from Dean Hauxley, Christmas Day 1836.
