This plate undoubtedly from a unique service - a variant on the better-known lavender and yellow "Plume" tea service (see lot 5) - designed in the studio of Dutch artist Cornelis Pronk and then privately ordered. A cream jug in this pattern in the collection of the Royal Museums of Art and History, Brussels, is illustrated by Jorg (Chine de Commande from the Royal Museums, p. 155), where he calls it an "...extremely rare, unrecorded variety."
