Lot Essay

A nearly identical pair of side chairs from Bermuda, with the same incision on the rear seat rail, were sold at Christie's, New York, January 20, 2005, lot 352. Additional chairs of similar form can be found in Hyde, Bryden Bordley, Bermuda's Antique Furniture & Silver, (Great Britain, 1971), pp. 44-45, figs. 101, 102, 104 and 106.
