Lot Essay

In Chinese Armorial Porcelain for the Dutch Market Dr. Jochem Kroes praises this service as "exceptional" (p. 27-28, ill.) and "exquisite" (p. 259-260). Other pieces from the service have been sold from the collections of Florence Gould (Sotheby's, Monaco, 27 June 1984, lot 1356), Baronne Pangaert d'Opdorp (Sotheby's, London, 27 February 1973, lot 288), and Francois and Nicole Hervouet (Christie's, New York, 21 January 1999, lot 18).
