Lot Essay

General Boudet (Bordeaux 1769-1809 Budweis) started his military career in the French revolutionary army on the island of Guadeloupe, located in the east Caribbean, where in 1794, the French retook the island from the English. In 1799, Boudet returned to France and served as a Brigade General in the campaigns in Holland and Italy. His career continued, when after a trip to Saint Dominque in 1801, he returned to France in 1803. By 1809 when he died, he was one of Napolean's Counts of the First French Empire. His name is inscribed on the east corner of the Arc de Triomphe, Paris.
