Descriptif du lot

The present painting can be dated to the late 1550s and early 1560s on the basis of the sitter's uniform. The gorget and helmet, known as a 'Spanish morion', indicate his status as an infantryman, while the colors on the band on his left arm indicate which prince he served under.
