Lot Essay

This figure of Uma is exceptionally well-cast, from the datura flowers above her hears to the finely worked striations and folds of her dhoti. Also of note is the waist of the plinth incised with diamond and wheel-like patterns and the carefully incised lotus petals on her base, both with beaded edges.
