A Rare Zitan Wood Figure of a Bodhisattva
Tibet, 18th century
Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with beaded rims, his hands held in dharmachakramudra, clad in a dhoti with a floral pattern printed in cold gold and draped in a long shawl with diaper pattern, the face with full lips and straight nose, flanked by large earrings and surmounted by a tiara, the hair pulled into a high chignon, with an inscription at the back

Lot Essay

The inscription the reverse reads rdo leg pa la na mo, which translates to "Salutations to Dorje Legpa!"
