A standing wood figure of Zochoten (Virudhaka)
Nanbokucho period (14th century)
Of joined-block construction, the deity dressed in Chinese armor with left arm raised and clasped to hold a staff, the eyes of inlaid painted and gilded glass, the surface applied overall with traces of variegated gilded patterns and red and black lacquer, two metal straps crossing the shoulders from the back, the base carved as two subdued demons with inlaid glass eyes set on a rock base
