The D-shaped 'book-matched' veneered top enclosed by later cross and feather-banding enclosing a green silk-velvet-lined playing-surface enclosed by cross-banding, above a frieze with two candle-stands and three small drawers, on six tapering octagonal legs, the rear two formed as gatelegs, joined by incurved stretchers, on ball feet, the gatelegs incised 'II' and 'III', the carcase inscribed in pencil 'W629', the feet probably original, restorations to the top

A closely related William and Mary walnut card-table was in the famed collection of Percival D. Griffiths, F.S.A. (d. 1938) and sold at Christie's, London, 10-12 May 1939, lot 199 (336 gns to R. W. Symonds, Esq.). It was then sold by the late Colonel & Mrs H. H. Aykroyd, Christie's, London, 27 April 2006, lot 6 (£26,400).
