Lot Essay

A female painter and calligrapher born in Wuxi in 1914, Fang Zhaolin studied under Tao Peifong before reading Modern European History in England. She returned to Hong Kong in 1953. Examples of her work can be found in the Guggenheim Museum, New York and the Hong Kong Museum of Art.
