PROBABLY GERMAN, SECOND HALF 17TH CENTURY
With wedged iron frame, the angles decorated with small finials, the three trains with wood barrels (each appr. 20 cm. long), four spoked wheelwork, anchor escapement (possibly originally with verge and foliot), hour and quarter striking on counthweel
The frame circa 80 cm. high x 115 cm. wide x 65 cm. deep
On a modern stainless steel plinth base -12 cm. high x 122 cm. wide x 70 cm. deep

Christie’s charges a premium to the buyer on the Hammer Price of each lot sold at the following rates: 29.75% of the Hammer Price of each lot up to and including €20,000, plus 23.8% of the Hammer Price between €20,001 and €800.000, plus 14.28% of any amount in excess of €800.000. This turret clock has an early style frame which could indicate a pre-pendulum start, next to this, one side does have a potance which could fit a pivot and a bracket with a vacant hole above, which could accomodate the arbor of an original foliot escapement
