AN INSCRIBED GREEN JADE PLAQUE
18TH CENTURY
Probably a frontispiece for a jade book, carved on one side with two dragons beneath flaming pearls and amidst clouds above crashing waves and rockwork, confronted around an inscription framed by double line borders, reading Yuti guochao chuan bao ji, the other side carved with calligraphy, all of the carving highlighted in gilding in contrast to the soft green and white color of the stone

Lot Essay

The inscription, Yuti guochao chuan bao ji, may be translated as, 'A treasure that is passed down from the Imperial court'.
