Cast with a central, concave circular panel reserved on a field of stylized florets interspersed with four characters cast in relief and recumbent animals at each corner, the reverse plain, with some malachite and ferrous encrustation

Lot Essay

A very similar, though slightly smaller (9.8 cm.), square mirror, also dated to the Tang dynasty, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Bronze Articles for Daily Use, Hong Kong, 2006, p. 192, no. 169.
