Lot Essay

A large (16¼ in.) archaistic gold and silver-inlaid bronze hu of this type is illustrated by M. Goedhuis, Chinese and Japanese Bronzes, A.D. 1100-1900, 1989, no. 88, where it is dated late 17th/early 18th century.
