Lot Essay

Dishes of this size and pattern, also with Qianlong seal marks, are more usually seen with a yellow enamelled ground, such as the example in the Percival David Foundation illustrated in Oriental Ceramics, The World's Great Collections, vol. 6, Tokyo, 1982, no. 247. See, also, the dish sold in these rooms, 19 March 2008, lot 602.
A similar blue and white dish, without the yellow enamel, is illustrated by J. Ayers, Chinese Ceramics: The Koger Collection, London, 1985, no. 96.
