Lot Essay

This rare bowl is similar in shape and style of decoration to a gilt-decorated copper pouring bowl illustrated in Chinesisches Gold und Silber: Die Sammlung Pierre Uldry, Museum Rietberg, Zürich, 1994, p. 162, no. 149, which is decorated in the center with a phoenix amidst clouds.
