Descriptif du lot

Many workshop versions exist of this popular Renaissance composition by Pieter Coecke van Aelst (G. Marlier in La Renaissance Flamande - Pierre Coeck d'Alost, 1966, pp. 97-9, lists 41 replica's, dated between 1527 and 1550). Most formats measure 60 x 80 cm., which appears to have been a standard size used in the studio.
