Lot Essay

The later added notes on the first folio indicate that this manuscript was in the Deccan and belonged to Muhammad Sa'id known as Mir Kalan (unidentified) who gave it to Husayn ibn Mas'ud together with other manuscripts in AH 977/1569-70 AD with his seal impression. It later belonged to Ibrahim 'Adilshah II of Bijapur with his seal impression as Ibrahim Nawras AH 987-1035/1579-1626 AD.

Qutb al-Din al-Shirazi completed this work in 1285 in Sivas and dedicated to Taj al-Din Mu'tazz bin Tahir, the vizier of Amir-Shah Muhammad bin al-Sadr al-Sa'id (IRCICA, Mathematicians, Astronomers and other Scholars of Islamic Civilization and their works, Istanbul, 2003, 668) For further details on Qutb al-Din al-Shirazi, please see lot 61.
