Mahmud bin Sultan 'Ali is recorded by Bayani as a scribe of the 16th century. Two other works by him are recorded, one copied in Balkh in AH 958/1551 AD) and another dated AH 967/1559-60 AD (Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va asar-e khosh-nevisan, vol. III, Teheran, 1348 sh., p. 875).

Of all the purchase notes on the opening page, the earliest one is a note indicating that the manuscript was purchased in Mashhad around the middle of Shawwal AH 1142 (early May 1730 AD).
