Lot Essay

An identical composition with almost identical measurements is documented in the collection of G.B. Lanz, Chateau du Grand Clos, Rennaz, Switserland, as 'Frans Francken II' (oil on panel, 72 x 118 cm.) The artist with monogram 'AB' must have been working close to Frans Francken II and his studio.
